RACING FAQs

How do I get involved with racing?

If you have a valid AusCycling race licence you can race to your heart’s content. We ask that when racing you wear your CPCC club kit. You can contact Pat Coleman, the CPCC Race Captain if you want information on upcoming events and how to get involved.

HOW FIT DO I NEED TO BE TO RACE?

There is a grade to suit any level of fitness. We have members racing for recreation all the way up to the elite level. If you need advice reach out to us!

IS RACING SAFE?

Racing is safer than you might think! Most races are held on a closed circuit, with no cars or pedestrians to worry about – and the clubs who run the races have rider safety as their primary concern. At CPCC we also foster a culture of safety, and can support you to build confidence riding in the bunch, so come race day you are feeling comfortable and ready to go!

What is CPACS Racing?

The Centennial Park Audi Centre Sydney Racing Team (CPACS Racing) is a set roster of CPCC riders who are on an annual contract. The roster is decided by the CPACS Race Team Captain every year. There are ongoing fitness, training and race commitments involved to be on the team, and the squad is expected to be able to compete consistently at an elite level.

HOW CAN I JOIN THE CPACS Racing team?

Attending club rides and racing in CPCC kit regularly is a good start! Sponsors expect riders to be at a fitness level to race B Grade minimum or A Grade Masters at a state and national level, which means training with the help of a cycling coach. If you feel you meet the criteria, you can register your interest for when contracts are renewed.

Can I race for CPCC if I am not in the team?

Of course! There are CPCC members who race at all levels who are not part of the team. We have a CPCC Race Captain who promotes regular racing across all grades and also race training skills sessions. We encourage everyone to try racing at any level.

Can I buy the CPACS Racing kit?

The race team kit is specifically for the CPACS Racing team to use at events and club race team rides. If not in the team, we ask you to proudly race under the CPCC colours.
